War can never be won through the use of force. The only solution to ending wars is broadening awareness. Only a mind that can seek answers on a deeper level will be able to develop an acceptable, peacemaking strategy. The inability to create a peaceful solution to the conflict indicates man’s failure to use the full potential of the human mind. All avenues to peace are always open but finding and traversing them is up to the traveler himself. If the path to peace is not taken, it is because the mind wasn’t open to finding the proper solution. It isn’t that the road to peace is difficult, it is rather that peace isn’t always the highest priority. Therefore, the path to peace isn’t perceived, or to be blunt, it is purposely ignored. Sometimes, war is more profitable to the the arms-creating magnates in the country. Sometimes, greed, fear, pride and the lust for power completely overshadow the faculty of reason in the mind.
In the words of John Steinbeck:
“All wars are a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.“
and Martin Luther King:
“Our scientific prowess has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.“
Each nation must reap the consequences of a prolonged war. There are ultimately no winners – only a massive loss of life. When a country becomes unaffected by the impact of death and destruction caused by war, it is paving the way towards its own extinction. Those who wantonly kill in wars will ultimately be killed. Nature always returns the effects of the actions to the actor. Violence can never be removed through more violence. The only way to end a conflict is through mediation, through dialogue, through understanding. This is the path to peace. If this path is not chosen, it is the fault of those engaged in the war and they bear the responsibility for it.
The only way to mitigate the suffering caused by wars is to create peace in the nation by teaching the citizens to meditate in large groups to radiate a sustained influence of peace, harmony and coherence in the country.
