Spiritual Wealth

There are two kinds of wealth: material wealth and spiritual wealth.

Most people think of amassing material wealth, consisting of money and various kinds of possessions. But such things cannot bring lasting happiness because they are impermanent. They may be lost, damaged or ignored. As time passes, we may lose interest in things which attracted us before. Material wealth may even bring problems if the wealth was earned in a way that harmed the society or environment in some way.

Material wealth is transitory. Spiritual wealth is eternal.

Spiritual wealth comes from within. It comes from alignment with the natural laws governing the universe. It comes from attunement with our inner being. When we live in harmony with nature, whatever we desire finds it’s way to us. Spiritual wealth depends on our inner resources more than our outer resources. It is a way of living, a way of giving, a way of flowing with the river of life that brings the spontaneous fulfillment of our desires. With spiritual wealth, money comes when we need it. Without asking, whatever we need comes to us at the right time. Nature organizes best. When we nourish the universe with love, kindness, peace, and harmony, life nourishes us. When we meditate, we spread coherence into our environment. There is an interplay between our heart and the heart of the universe. The influence we radiate returns to us.

With spiritual wealth, one does not desire to hoard the material aspect of life. Matter is seen in its proper perspective. The outer, material aspect of life doesn’t shroud the inner radiance of life.

The purpose of life is the expansion of our inner Being – the full unfoldment of our spiritual wealth. The ultimate expression of spiritual wealth is the attainment of enlightenment, the highest state of human consciousness. When this state is gained, one “owns” the entire universe because the universe is experienced as the expression of the Self – one infinite wholeness of life revealing itself to itself. The experience is: I am the Self of All.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has said:

“Let yourself be possessed by your Self. Once you are possessed by your Self the purpose of all wisdom has been achieved… That is the end of the journey of life, that is the state of fulfillment.”
